Rukshana managed the head count reduction within my Operations department. We needed a leaner, more streamlined operation which involved new roles and positions. The time frames were tight as we started the reorganisation just before Christmas and needed to deliver results by the 1st of February.
She was very professional and detailed in her dealings with employees. She ensured the lines of communication were kept open throughout the process. She was very mindful of the fact that people’s jobs were at risk and therefore left no stone unturned by trying all means possible to ensure this was achieved with the minimum amount of disruption and without unnecessarily prolonging the negotiation talks.

Rukshana ensured the integrity of the process was maintained by keeping management and unions on track and this led to both sides coming to agreements in a short amount of time.

She kept to the tight time scales by constantly feeding back results of meetings to both parties in order to move the process along and to keep it fluid. This enabled us to keep our costs down as no more time was spent on process than necessary.

She worked very hard to come up with alternative proposals that benefited both the organisation and employees. For example she suggested retaining employees who were at risk within the company for an interim period during the change over period. The business benefit for this was we had a resource at hand in case the new structure did not work as it should and it ensured the seamless transition from the old organisation to the new one as employees in the old roles handed over to the new ones. It benefited the employees as they were given more time in which to consider their options and look for alternative roles.

Rukshana kept both management and employees informed every step of the way through regular face to face meetings and emails with FAQ’s which were updated on a regular basis. She mediated on both sides to bring the talks to a close amicably, achieving a win-win outcome.

Rukshana managed a large recruitment campaign, hiring over 700 cabin crew. She co-ordinated the campaign with great precision and professionalism. Rukshana was exceptionally organised and dedicated. She coached recruiters on the interview process, and the key attributes BA was looking for in their cabin crew.

Crucially Rukshana also brought innovative solutions to the table. Responding to operational pressures including flight cancellations due to crew shortages, and delays in processing new crew CRB applications, She decided to streamline and improve the recruitment process, giving candidates a reduced time frame to produce their documents and also taking her learning from operations started to overbook interview candidates, similar to the way airlines overbook passengers on flights.

This ensured a full house each day inspite of people ‘no showing’ for their interviews for various reasons. By using innovative solutions such as this she managed keep our costs on track, and significantly reduced operational cancellations due shortage of cabin crew.
